About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China for almost 3,000 years.
It is based on the belief that energy (called “Qi”) flows around the body, in channels under the skin, promoting health and resisting disease.
When we feel healthy, the flow of Qi runs smoothly. This allows the body to remain in balance, physically, emotionally and spiritually. If this energy becomes weak or blocked, it can lead to pain and ill-health. The flow of energy can be disturbed by many internal and external factors, such as infection, stress, anger, trauma, fear, grief and poor nutrition.
The role of an acupuncturist is to restore and maintain good health by freeing and moving the Qi around the body.
